What made you want to start your business?  

“Being adversely affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic, like most people in Ontario, I decided to take a chance on me, and I founded Unlimited HRM Solutions Inc. My business began as a thought shortly after I was reorganized out of my employer, and that’s when a friend of mine needed my help and there you have it, I had my first client. From there, an entire company was established through my determination and courage. The team and I are so proud of how far the Company has come. As the Company continues to grow, our client base increases, and services continue expanding. Unlimited HRM Solutions Inc. offers two divisions; Business-to-Business services & our Business-to-Consumer division. As well as our newly launched HR Starter Pack.” 

Could you share some key milestones or significant experiences that have shaped your professional journey? 

“After a life-altering car accident in 2018, I seized the opportunity during my recovery to prioritize professional growth in the field of HR. This commitment led to the establishment of Unlimited HRM Solutions Inc., a testament to my extensive expertise as an HR Generalist. The company has since expanded, boasting a dedicated office space at 2174 King Rd, King City, ON L7B 1L5, and a growing team. Beyond professional achievements, I actively participate in local events with my family in King City and engage with the King Chamber of Commerce, fostering enduring relationships within the community” 

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced being an entrepreneur and how did you overcome them? 

“Despite facing recent challenges, such as the loss of both my parents in 2021 and my father-in-law in 2022, I believe I have demonstrated remarkable resilience. Balancing the roles of a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and business owner, I have guided my enterprise to new heights. In 2023, I expanded my business from a solo operation based at home to a fully-fledged company with a dedicated team, positioning it for even greater success.” 

Can you tell us about a project or achievement that you are particularly proud of? 

“In 2023, Unlimited HRM Solutions Inc. achieved significant milestones by diversifying its services. The introduction of a Business-to-Consumer division focuses on individual support, offering services ranging from crafting resumes to providing career coaching and guidance on employee rights in Ontario. Mock interviews are also part of our offering which was implemented to better prepare candidates for job interviews. 

Additionally, the Business-to-Business division expanded with the introduction of the HR Starter pack, designed to assist small businesses in hiring their initial employees while ensuring legal compliance. The company’s growth is further highlighted by a move to a larger office space, enhancing its capacity to accommodate a growing team and to better serve our clients.” 

 In your opinion, what are the essential skills or qualities needed to succeed at being an entrepreneur? 

“Entrepreneurship encompasses a diverse journey, spotlighting key qualities and skills essential for success. Resilience is pivotal, allowing entrepreneurs to rebound from setbacks and persevere through challenges. A clear vision and strategic thinking are crucial for identifying opportunities, planning for the long term, and navigating the dynamic business landscape. Financial management skills ensure the effective utilization of financial resources, contributing to business sustainability. Adaptability is paramount as entrepreneurs must pivot strategies in response to changing environments. Comfort with calculated risks and decision-making in uncertainty defines an entrepreneurial spirit. Genuine passion fuels motivation and aids in overcoming inevitable challenges. Leadership, effective networking, creativity, and strong communication further form the bedrock for success. While these skills can be developed over time, the entrepreneurial journey remains unique for everyone.” 

How has your industry evolved or changed over the years, and how have you adapted to those changes? 

The HR landscape has transformed significantly, driven by technology, changing workforce dynamics, and organizational evolution. Key trends include technology integration, leveraging AI for streamlined recruitment and performance management. With the surge in remote work, HR adapts with flexible policies, addressing engagement challenges in virtual environments. There’s a heightened focus on positive employee experiences, emphasizing wellness programs and career development for talent attraction and retention. HR has shifted to data-driven decision-making, using analytics to understand workforce trends and measure performance. The importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) has grown (as it should), prompting HR to actively promote these values through targeted practices.  Over the last few years, HR has become more of a strategic partner, where data drives decision making, employers see the value in an employee-centric retention approach, embracing technology, remote work, and diversity initiatives. To ensure loyalty and longevity, businesses must prioritize effective internal people operations to tackle turnover challenges.” 

Can you share the most valuable lesson you learned as an entrepreneur? 

“The most valuable lesson I’ve learned as an entrepreneur is the importance of adaptability. In the dynamic landscape of business, being open to change and quick to adapt to new circumstances is crucial for long-term success. Whether it’s adjusting to market trends, responding to customer feedback, or navigating unforeseen challenges, the ability to embrace change with a positive mindset has proven to be a key factor in overcoming obstacles and fostering growth. Remember, flexibility and a willingness to evolve are integral components of a resilient and thriving entrepreneurial journey.”
